The Atropos Clan
Aug. 31st, 2012 12:08 amThe Greek myth from Earth says that, "the Moirai controlled the metaphorical thread of life of every mortal from birth to death. They were independent, at the helm of necessity, directed fate, and watched that the fate assigned to every being by eternal laws might take its course without obstruction. Atropos chooses the manner of each person's death ; and when their time was come, she cut their life-thread with her abhorred shears." And that might indeed have been how the time travelers from another world appeared like to the early Greek civilization as they guided their human "ancestors" toward a fate that would ensure the future of the Moirai people.

Clan Atropos deals with any business having to do with death. Indeed, they are known as the Bringer's of Death and govern mortuaries, medical-legal investigation, forensic pathology, funerals, hospices, critical care, capital punishment but also transitional pyschology and therapeutic couseling (although a note must be made that this race doesn't find themselves ill very often).
The woman are known as the Daughters of Night. They have a sixth sense of death and destiny and guide those nearing the "Atropian Age" (death) to fulfill their destiny before nearing their end. They can see a persons "fate" line and are empowered to ensure that the fate is met.
The Atropos clan is also home to the most distinguished and lethal military "special forces" on their planet, moira thanatoio, loosely translated as "destiny of death". This unit of the planet's military is only deployed when a peaceful solution cannot be reached and when the scope of the work is beyond that of the planet's regular military forces. If they are sent, it is to bring about an definate end to something. They are seen as the shears that cut life from the vine-silent, fast and precise. As a result, they are seen with a mixture of awe and fear from a society that is prodominently peaceful and non-agressive.
They are justice at the end of the sword.
They are merciless fate at the end of ones road.
From their lips falls the last 'good night' when the days ebb into shadows.
They are the ones with the best chance of saving their race from annhilation just as long as the Lachesisian Clan blesses them with the long life to do it.
This muse is part of clan Atropos and the Moira Thanatoio.
The other related clans are Clan Clotho and Clan Lachesis.
